The galvanized layer of hot dipped GI sheet features both psychical shielding effect and electrochemical protection effect on steel substrate. While adopting electric-arc welding to weld galvanized steel sheet, due to low boiling point, zinc will quickly gasifies when the electric-arc touches galvanized layer. The zinc steam generated sprays outside, easily causing welding defects such as slag particle, pore, splashing, incomplete fusion and crack, etc during welding. The stability of electric-arc is impacted and welding quality decreases. Also, a lot of smoke and dust can generate during welding process.
Besides, electric-arc sees large weld width and large heat input. Large amount of gasification of galvanized layer lowers the anti-corrosion performance of welded seam of galvanized steel sheet.
Hot dipped GI sheet surface treatments can provide enhanced resistance to staining, improved formability, and/or improved paintability. Galvanized sheet can be used bare, pre painted or post painted.
